Talbiyah

Immediately after making niyyah utter the words of Talbiyah three times and as often afterwards as possible. If you don’t remember it, you can say its translation in English or in any other language but Talbiyah or its translation is pronounced in a loud voice by men and in a subdued voice by women.

TALBIYAH

“Labbayk,Allahumma Labbayk.Labbayk.La shareeka laka.Labbayk.Innal-hamda wan-n’imatalaka wal-mulk.La shareeka lak.”( Here we come,O Allah, here we come !Here we come.No partner have You.Here we come!Praise indeed, and blessings, are Yours—the Kingdom too!No partner have You!)

Du’a. After this recite Darud Sharif and supplicate to Allah Almighty any du’a in Arabic or in your own language.

Timings of Talbiyah

Those performing Hajj should start uttering the Talbiyah from the time the Ihram is worn and continue with its recital up until the first pebble is thrown at Jamrat al-Aqaba on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, Yawm al-Nahr.

Those performing Umrah should start uttering the Talbiyah from the time the Ihram is worn and continue with its recital up until the Hajar al-Aswad is kissed, touched or saluted at the beginning of Tawaf al-Umrah.

Virtues of the Talbiyah

Jabir ibn Abdullah I narrates:

There is no Muhrim who exposes himself to the sun all day for the sake of Allah, reciting the Talbiyah until the sun goes down, but his sins will disappear and he will be as he was on the day his mother bore him. Ibn Majah Vol. 4, Book 25, Hadith 2925

Sahl bin Sa’d I narrates:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘There is no Muslim who says the Talbiyah except that – on his right and left, until the end of the land, from here to there – the rocks, or trees, or mud say the Talbiyah.’ Ibn Majah Vol. 4, Book 25, Hadith 2921
